Annapolis – Maryland’s three UNITE HERE Locals today announced their endorsement of Congressman Anthony Brown for Maryland Attorney General and Delegate Brooke Lierman for State Comptroller
“The COVID-19 pandemic has been particularly hard on hospitality workers. As we come back to work, we need champions who will fight for us in Annapolis,” said Roxie Herbekian, the president of UNITE HERE Local 7, which represents workers in and around Baltimore and Ocean City. “Brooke and Anthony have consistently supported racial justice, livable wages, healthcare and rights for workers. We are elated to support their candidacies.”
“Our members are getting back on their feet, but our work in Maryland is really just getting started,” said Marlene Patrick-Cooper, President of UNITE HERE Local 23, which represents food service workers in the DC suburbs “We need an Attorney General who will hold employers accountable and a Comptroller who will push Maryland to tackle its glaring racial wealth gap. That is why we are so proud to endorse Anthony and Brooke.”
“As we seek to grow and organize coming out of the pandemic, we are entering a new phase in our Union’s development,” said Sam Epps, Political Director of UNITE HERE Local 25, which represents hotel and casino workers in National Harbor. “Anthony Brown has been a long-time friend to our members, and we know that Brooke Lierman will fight tirelessly for them.
